Morpheus Industry Leading Features

Yes, there are “new world” appliances that are absolutely appropriate in specific situations. The MORPHEUS uses a design that is well supported with years of positive literature, and at the same time, provides a top quality appliance at a reasonable fee. Failure as a result of mandibular drop is not possible, and at no time will “elastics” be required.

  • Three year warranty based on manufacture defect. Appliance must be returned to validate warranty.

  • Titration assembly made from high density plastic that is actually stronger than the stainless steel assembly that has been used in the past.

  • MorPhlex is the default liner. Hot water makes it resilient, allowing effortless delivery with secure and comfortable fit — allowing every appliance to be readily adapted to the patient’s dentition at the time of insertion. Retention can be readily altered and controlled.

  • 10-day (or less) laboratory turnaround.  Crane Dental Lab is well known for their attention to detail.

  • 9 mm of titration available with original titration assembly that has been engineered to prevent reversal of titration from muscular forces.

  • Potential shortened arch coverage ideal for patient’s who potentially gag and patients requiring smaller appliances and ideal due to the ability to increase retention on cases with limited dentition.

  • LIVE CLINICAL SUPPORT for ALL Morpheus cases provided by Dr. Barry Glassman. You will be sent a link to create a support session at your convenience.

  • Crane Lab will accept both scans, and stable impressions or physical models.  Rush option is available.

  • LOOKING FOR LIT to support your use of oral appliance therapy? Morpheus users simply ask and receive!

Built in Anterior Midpoint Stop

Easy patient titration without altered posterior contact with titration

Decreased muscle forces during parafunction with less force in joints and on dentition

Posterior Stops readily added if desired

Allows for shortened arch coverage

THREE YEAR WARRANTY:

In general, our policy is if it breaks or fails due to mechanical default, we’ll replace it. This is a manufacturing warranty and not a guarantee of success of treatment. This warranty may also protect against accidental damage at the manufacture's discretion. The appliance must be returned to the manufacturer for a warranty claim.

TITRATION ASSEMBLY

The newly developed titration assembly has 9 mm of titration built into the original assembly. The screw angle has been engineered to limit the reversal often experienced with this type of single point anterior titrating assemblies. The upgraded hardware titrates securely and smoothly, and the assembly is marked to help both the doctor and the patient guide titration. Simple titration is excellent for patient compliance.

NEW MORPHEUS DESIGN

This incredibly durable yet comfortable appliance can be constructed with the coverage of your choice, readily chosen on the prescription provided. The printed appliance can be put in hot water at delivery and manipulated for a comfortable yet retentive fit due to the materials unique memory qualities. The materials used are stain and fracture resistant.

MORPHLEX OPTION

The MOREPHLEXZ option allows total flexibility to alter retention, over time, and adapt the appliance to any restorative changes.

CRANE LAB and TURN AROUND TIME

CRANE DENTAL LAB understands the need for the appliance to be delivered quickly and on time. The normal shipping rate will have the appliance sent out after no more than five days in lab. Absent of shipping delays beyond our control, your appliance will arrive within ten business days from our receipt of your scan, physical silicone impressions or poured models. There is a "HERMES SPEED” option.

BITE REGISTRATION OPTIONS

You can order standard minimum vertical and state the starting position in relationship to the patient’s edge to edge posture. Because of the flexibility the appliance can be ordered with these instructions and no actual bite registration. Of course if you choose to take a bite registration your registration will be honored.

LIVE FULL CLINICAL SUPPORT with Dr Barry Glassman

Full clinical support with all your Morpheus cases is just part of the Morpheus Advantage. This support is not simply related to the use of the appliance, but to all issues involving your patient care for your patients with sleep disturbed breathing. You will receive a link to set up a private zoom meeting session with Dr. Glassman with your first case.

Dental Sleep Medicine — Dr. Barry Glassman and the Morpheus — The History That Has Brought Us This Quality Appliance

Pharyngeal musculature tends to relax during sleep causing altered airway resistance leading to anything from benign snoring to severe obstructive sleep apnea.  This is a disorder of sleep.  No awake parameters or combination of awake parameters can be used to predict the presence of sleep disorders or to predict the success of any treatment concept.

It is important to understand that treating sleep disturbed breathing has literally nothing to do with dentistry.  In fact, there are issues with treating breathing disturbances that should make us rethink some of the empirically derived “truths” we have been taught by dentistry for years.

There is a lot we can learn from dental sleep medicine to help us become better dentists.

While this is a truly an exciting field, it certainly has significant challenges.  Unless these challenges are recognized and addressed, failure in a field that seems so simple and straightforward will ensue.

I became a diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2001 and, without understanding the model change that is required to practice dental sleep medicine, I moved blindly forward adding the practice dental sleep into my general practice of dentistry.  Ten years later, after much frustration, trial and error (more error than trial) I wrote an article entitled “The Hidden Challenges of Dental Sleep Medicine.”   Incredibly, despite many advances and changes in dental sleep medicine over the last ten. years, the article remains essentially relevant today.  It became my goal to help prevent those I teach from the torturous path I took to learn how to successfully treat patients with sleep disorders.

I have been teaching dental sleep medicine for over twenty years, and now believe we have the teaching formula that provides the best opportunity for our attendees to become successful in their dental sleep medicine endeavors.  We take on the difficult challenge of changing the practice model employed, , as the dental practice model that involves expected success, excellent unquestioned prognosis, and predictable procedures based on the quality of the services performed, will only lead to frustration and failure.  We have recently teamed with a specialty medical company that supports dentists in the entire practice of sleep medicine.  Combined with our training, we believe this puts our dentists a position to succeed in providing excellent therapy as a key partner on their  sleep medicine team.

I started practicing using an anterior midpoint stop titration assembly.  I was chosen by  SomnoMED to introduce their dorsal type appliances to the country in a yearlong extensive national program in 2008.   At that point in time, SomnoMED added  what they called the “Glassman Ramp” option.  I have continued to teach and stay familiar with the newer age appliances.  While there are those that suggest that to be successful a dentist must have familiarity with many appliances, the fact is that having a “go to” appliance that is ideal for most situations, and possibly two other appliances that fill the void for the situations where that go-to appliance isn’t appropriate, works best in most offices.  The preponderance of the evidence makes an appliance that does indeed prevent mandibular opening (and thus increases pharyngeal and nasal resistance) with a single anterior contact is the more predictable design.   Recent studies have shown decreased cerebral blood AND decreased nasal resistance when posterior contact is prevented, let alone the known decreased magnitude force vectors during parafunction.  Eliminating posterior contact avoids the complications of altered posterior contacts caused by titration reducing ligament insertion injuries often associated with oral appliance therapy.   The Morpheus titration assembly with its 9 mm of titration built into the intraoral titration assembly, along with other design advantages and low cost in a price sensitive market, proves to be an excellent “go to” appliance.  Additionally, the Morpheus provides you the opportunity to easily make design choices in terms of dental coverage of both the maxillary and mandibular units as well as give you the option of a thermocryl or basic shell.    If you have questions about any of these choices or any other issue with your Morpheus appliance, you can contact me, or Crane Dental Labs in Rochester NY or Hallmark Dental Labs in Canada  who serve as your direct contacts.   In addition, I look forward to  supporting all those who use the Morpheus appliance with clinical guidance.  You can use the “contact us” tab on the website or seek the support by emailing me at DrBGlass@gmail.com
